3rd ICEPLEX AD FILM AWARDS (IAFA)

On 16th July 2011, the Prince Hall at NSCI Worli witnessed a memorable meet of the past and present. ICEPLEX had organised the 3rd  IAFA Jury meet comprising of veterans like Ameen Sayani (the eternal golden voice) , Tabassum (ruled the DD airwaves for nearly 2 decades through the programmes Phool khile hain gulshan gulshan), Parikshet Sahni (famous film & tv personality), Madhushree (playback singer) and Ujjawal Kumar Choudhary (Dean-Whistling Woods).

IAFA targets primarily 11-21 years age group who compete for the best made  ads.

Apart from the adult jury, there was the child jury headed by Avinash Mukherjee (of Balika Badhu fame).  Bhavya Gandhi and Mehr Shah were also present.

Parikshet Sahni felt that some of the ads by the children made him so emotional that he got a lump in his throat.

Ameen Sayani was of the opinion 'pragati aur parampara' must work hand in hand. He added, "No doubt, today's generation is doing a wonderful job in the fields of creativity. However only if they continue to create without forgoing their traditions can they do still better".

Tabassum had all the praises for these young film-makers and she congratulated the RYAN International Group especially its Chairman Dr. Augustine F. Pinto and Managing Director Madam Grace Pinto who are supporting the cause of children in such a unique manner.  As per Dr. Pinto, every child is multi-talented and as such they should be given multi-faceted platforms to showcase their skills and multiple options to consider while choosing a career.

YJ's On SHARA ONE Press Meet @ Mumbai

Friday the 11th of Feb was a memorable day for the Young Jourknows of Iceplex as their dreams began to take shape when Johny Lever the ambassador of Iceplex.tv presented the programme YJ's on Sahara One to the press.

On this occasion several dignitaries were present along with more than 25 young jourknows. Chief General Manager Mr. Suresh Mishra of Sahara One Entertainment Network, spoke eloquently on the reason why Sahara has come forward to support this programme on their network. He said the country sorely lacks programming for the youth and with this endeavour he wishes the voice and the talent of these students comes to the fore.

Mr. Johny Lever the king of Comedy also the Brand Ambassador of Iceplex expressed his amazement on how these little ones face the camera with such ease. He added that the content created by Iceplex through these Young Jourknows is mind blowing. He longed to be a kid so that he too could become a YJ.

   Another newbie is set to
make space for himself in B town this year.
Ryan Pinto,son of well-known educationists, and                      
ex-sheriff of Mumbai, AF Pinto, is                                      
going to make his debut as an actor
in his first Hindi movie (we need not
say Bollywood, lest Sallu Bhai be angry!),

“Masti Express.”
The movie is slated to release next
week. Ryan excitedly says, “It was a
humbling experience facing the
camera for the first time. The entire
star cast of the movie, especially
Johny Lever, helped and supported
me a lot during the shoot of the
movie. I also learnt how to be patient,
and the experience gave me a
glimpse of what perfection really
means.” But the dubbing experience,says the debut ante, was one of
the toughest moments. “I never realized it was so hard till I actually walked in to the dubbing room to repeat
all those dialogues.”Ryan, who plays the role of a student in the movie, is an educationists by profession. He adds, “I didn’t have to spend a lot of time working on my character. As an educationists, I’ve spent most of my time with the children in the school where I
work.” The debutante says that it was fun working on the sets (Ah! So quick to learn all that actors generally
say about working on the sets and all that, na?), and that he is sure his students will like his performance.
Did he need to fight his parents to start his filmi career,we asked?“In fact, they liked my acting,and they are eagerly looking forward to watch the film.”

Lights, camera, action! A first for a city school at Bengaluru

One more feather in the Cap...

 Lights, camera, action!” These words were not heard at a film shoot but at Ryan International School, Kundalahalli, on Friday. The students were welcomed to the world of movie-making thus at the inauguration of a new studio, the first in a Bangalore school.

The future of Media...
   Students will be taught audio and video recordings, colour mixing, framing and editing techniques. The studio, which took shape in association with ICEPLEX (Interactive Community Education Portal Leading Entire X-gen), a team from Mumbai, will offer film production as well as news presentation and production courses

Eager to learn

Raghav B. Reddy, a Class 8 student, is thrilled. “Last year, I attended a weeklong course on film production and we discussed the perfect shot we had always dreamt of and how we would execute it,” he said. His friend, M.S. Nandeep, was in a team that produced a public service advertisement. “We were a group of five and were to shoot a skit. It had the characters of parents  in it and we had to manage the camera.We were so confused; the mother in the skit delivered the dialogues of the father. It was fun and funny,” he said.

Dr Augustine F. Pinto, chairperson of the Ryan Group of Institutions, inaugurated the studio along with guests from various fields. “In the changing media scenario in India, we are confident of giving our students a head start in all its related fields. It is important to develop skill-based programmes at school-level,” he said.

Shibani Sharma, head (Content Development), ICEPLEX, said they have two fully functional studios in Ryan Schools in Mumbai. The one at Malad is in the Limca Book of Records for being the first-of-its-kind studio in a school. Students will be provided hands-on training in film production and news presentation and production, she added.

The 53rd Annual Conference of the Association of Schools for The Indian School Certificate (ASISC) 2010 recently got over. And this year it was hosted by none other than our very own
Ryan.


This grand 3 day conference was held in aamchi Mumbai. Naturally, apart from the humongous number of Principals (1200 atleast from all over India), there were also a staggering number of celebs who graced the occasion. Not wanting to be left behind, we YJs took up the task of trying to glean as much info as possible from them.

The conference was held from the 24th to the 26th of November, 2010 at the picturesque Renaissance Hotel, Powai. And mind you, in spite of a wide gamut of celebs, our questions were endless and entertaining!! There wasn't a single quiet moment. With dynamite sessions and performances going on within the hall, and incessant interviewing on the outside; let's just say that we YJs didn't just learn a lot, we also enjoyed loads. What more can I say- LEARNING AT IT'S BEST!!
